Visiting the Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur, an Oasis in the middle of the city

Cities are often asfixtiating, specially during the summer seasons, lots of buildings, cement, cars
every where, so getting some fresh air, trees, green, nature and water in a city is something not common.
Buenos Aires is an enormous city, but it has its own oasis very near the city center, the Natural Reserve (Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur) as it is called is located just a few blocks from the city center, near Puerto Madero.

The location is ideal, to get there from the city center, you just have to walk to Puerto Madero, and then locate the entrance to the Reserva Ecológica, the entrance is located just passing the Paseo de la Gloria in Puerto Madero, it is very easy to see it.

The Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur ocuppies 3,50 km2 of land gained to the Rio de la Plata, it´s trails are ideal to enjoy the river, watch the large numbers of birds and animals in the reserve or just get a bike and ride all the reserve.

Among the many animals and birds you can find in the Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur, you can find Carpenters, Cutiris and Swans, but about 300 species of birds, 18 species of mammals, 28 species of reptiles, 22 species of fish and 12 species of amphibians  live in the natural reserve.

But not only animals, birds and fish live in Costanera Sur, you can find about 575 species of trees and plants and about 42 species of mushrooms.

For a city so big as Buenos Aires, having this oasis just within the city is something to enjoy if you want to get out of the lights and noices of the big city for a couple of hours and enjoy nature without having to travel far.
